About Us

Our History

Edwards-Graham Insurance Agency was Del Rio’s first insurance agency, founded in 1906 by Mr. A. G. Edwards.  The original office was located at the southeast corner of Garfield and Main Streets.  Mr. Thomas Graham soon joined his father-in-law in the insurance agency   When the Del Rio National Bank built its current location on the southwest corner of Garfield and Main Streets, the agency moved into its former home, the current Del Rio Loan Building on South Main Street.  The agency provided insurance and personal loans to its clients.  Mr. Graham sold the agency in the early 1960’s to several of the producers in the office.  In the 1970’s, the insurance agency split from the loan company and moved to its current home at 1906 Veterans Blvd across the street from the Del Rio Civic Center.

In 2004, Edwards-Graham Insurance Agency merged with Val Verde Insurance Agency, the second oldest insurance agency in Del Rio.  Val Verde Insurance Agency was established in 1945 and was a friendly competitor to Edwards-Graham Insurance Agency for 69 years.  In 2004, the two were combined to give Del Rio a major independent insurance agency that is able to maintain the best contracts with the strongest insurance companies to better serve its clients.

Edwards-Graham Insurance Agency is an independent insurance agency.  What this means to our clients is that we are an advocate for our clients, not just for our insurance companies.  We have contracts with many insurance companies.  This has many benefits for our clients.

1.      We are not employed by the insurance companies.  Our clients remain our clients.  Therefore, as companies change their rates and coverage options, we can make sure that our clients continue to get the best coverage for their needs at the most competitive premium.

3.      We are our clients’ advocate when billing questions or problems arise.  Our clients can call us to research any billing problems and what to do to correct them.  Our clients don’t have to spend a lot of time and deal with a different stranger every time they call other insurance companies’ toll free phone numbers.

4.      We are our clients’ advocate when claim problems arise.  Claims are always an inconvenience, even when there are no problems.  When problems arise, they can be frustrating, confusing and downright irritating.  We are available to our clients when they want to talk to a live person and discuss claims issues.

5.      We are our clients’ counselors when policy coverage questions arise.  Life changes quickly, and our clients want to know that their insurance coverage is changing with their needs.  We are here to counsel our clients to make sure that they are not too much for insurance and not purchasing too little insurance coverage as these life changes occur.

6.      We are insurance professionals.  Every customer service representative in our office holds a general agent’s license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance.  We undergo at least 15 hours of continuing education each year to make sure that we stay on top of changes in our industry.  We are highly trained in insurance coverage and policies so that you don’t have to do the studying.  If we can’t answer your insurance questions immediately, we know where to find the answers quickly so our clients don’t have to do the time-staking research.
